Superintendent Search BOE Update #1

Old Saybrook Public Schools Community,

This is the first in a series of emails from the Board of Education regarding the search for the next Superintendent of Schools. The purpose of these emails is to provide you with updates regarding the process and the timeline for finding our next Superintendent.

More than 300 stakeholders participated in the data collection process, with Cooperative Education Services (CES) distributing the surveys in four languages to encourage our multilingual families to share their perspectives on our leadership needs. We appreciate all the feedback you have provided through the focus groups and surveys, and that data has been compiled into a document titled “Stakeholder Feedback Report and Leader Profile,” which is linked here and on our website. This document identifies the leadership skills, abilities, and attributes that most likely meet the future needs of the Old Saybrook Public Schools. Based on recent superintendent search data, we expected between 10-15 applications.  We were pleased to receive 32 applications, which is a very positive reflection on our district. The board has reviewed all the applications and has started interviewing candidates this past week.

We look forward to keeping you updated on this important process. Our next email will come during the week of 1/28.
